ABOUT THE SESSION
Most of us have a relationship with climate change that we don't talk about much.
For some that's worry, sadness, fear, a low hum of dread or a feeling of powerlessness. For others it might be a sense of irritation at being lectured, at the cost of it all, at the gap between what we're told to do and what actually seems to change. Plenty more are just tired of hearing about it and would rather get on with their lives. And a lot of us feel two or three of those at once.
Whatever it is, we rarely say it out loud, least of all in more open spaces.
So, this is an opportunity, we're screening The People's Emergency Briefing, a 50-minute film of the briefing given to MPs and UK leaders at Westminster by ten of the country's leading climate and nature experts.
Then we'll have a break, and then we'll talk.
The conversation won't be about the science, and it isn't a debate about who's right. It'll be about us:
- What came up for you while you watched?
- What do you imagine came up for other people in the room?
- And what might any of us need from each other, given all of it?
There's no panel and no pressure. You don't need to know anything about climate to come, and you don't have to say a word if you'd rather listen.
Every response is welcome, and we mean that. "This frightens me" is welcome. So is "I’m exhausted by this", "I'm sick of being made to feel guilty" and "I'd honestly rather not think about it". We’re aiming to have a conversation about how we and others feel about climate change, not the science, and there are no wrong answers about how we feel.
As you arrive we'll ask you for a word or two on where you are with it all at the moment. We'll use those later, anonymously, as a way into the conversation.

WHO THIS SESSION IS FOR
Anyone who's interested in climate, community, where you stay, people, and life in general.
It's also for anyone who has felt something about all of this, agreement or otherwise, and hasn't had many places to say so.
The film is recommended for ages 16 and over.
ABOUT THE FILM
In November 2025, more than 1,200 MPs, peers and leaders from business, faith, sport and the media were given a briefing at Westminster Central Hall by ten leading experts, on what the climate and nature crisis means for our health, our food, our security and our economy. The People's Emergency Briefing is the 50-minute film of it, presented by Chris Packham, and it has now been screened more than 1,800 times across the country.
It's a serious watch, and it was made with the Climate Psychology Alliance so that it lands honestly rather than bleakly. It ends on what can be done. You are, of course, free to feel however you want in response to it.
YOUR HOSTS
Tony Rogers is the Chair of Auchtermuchty and Strathmiglo Trust. He is married with two grown-up children. He is a Human Resources professional who stays in Strathmiglo. He's doing this because he thinks connection and conversation are what helps most when things feel difficult.
Andy Heer is the Chair of Auchtermuchty and Strathmiglo Community Council and has lived in Auchtermuchty for nearly 40 years. For much of that time he has been a community councillor, apart from 2012-2022 when he was a Fife Councillor.
A FEW HONEST WORDS ABOUT WHAT THIS ISN'T
This isn't a campaign meeting, and nobody will be asked to sign, join or pledge anything. The people behind the film do have some asks, so you’re free to pursue those if you want – but we won’t push then. It isn't a session about what you should do, or how you should feel. It's an evening of watching something together and talking about how we're doing.
A THANK YOU TO
Fife Eden Tay Parish Church of Scotland for hosting the event.
